Rich Text Formatting

Description fields across HoMeeSuite — events, shifts, shift types, volunteer types, and announcements — support lightweight text formatting so you can highlight important details for your team and volunteers.

Using the toolbar

Every description field with formatting support shows a small toolbar above the text box with four buttons: Bold, Italic, bulleted List, and Link. Select some text and click a button to wrap it, or click a button with nothing selected to insert placeholder text you can then edit.

Write and Preview

Below the toolbar, a Write/Preview tab pair lets you switch between editing your text and seeing exactly how it will render for volunteers before you save.

What's supported

  • Bold and italic text
  • Bulleted lists
  • Links
  • Emoji shortcodes like :+1:, :tada:, and :wave:

Type an emoji shortcode anywhere in a description and it renders as the matching emoji when saved — no toolbar button needed.

Raw HTML is not supported — if you paste HTML into a description field, it will not be rendered as formatted content. Use the toolbar buttons instead.
